Derby 2008 Ancients
15mm DBMM
Tournament
Rules
- The rules to be used are DBMM version 1.0.
- Armies may be chosen from DBMM Bk 3 or DBM v.2 army list books 1, 2 and 4 (as
modified by the appendices of the DBMM rules).
- The list submitted must not exceed 400APs.
- Please note that Derby 2008 is a single list
format.
- Any incorrect list discovered after a game has
commenced (after set up dice have been rolled) must be corrected prior to
the next match.
- Army lists must be submitted allocating all
elements including baggage to a command. They must specify the number of
ME and the disheartened/broken/shattered levels for each command and for
the whole army. The total army size for each list must not exceed 400AP
and the list must indicate the climate, aggression factor, year,
geographical region, generals where relevant, classification of general,
all stratagems chosen (and the elements to which they apply, if
appropriate) and all double based elements. Once an army list has been
submitted it may not be changed or altered other than to correct any
errors. Players may only correct their errors by making reasonable changes
to their list. It is not allowed to completely re-write the list, and the
list checkers decision on this is final.
- Except as specified in the DBMM army list books,
only Romans, Byzantines and Mongol Conquest (the latter in accordance with
a ruling made by Phil Barker on the DBMM Yahoo Forum) can have regular
baggage. All others converted from the DBM army list books have irregular baggage. Baggage (O) or (I) will be permitted
except that armies that are completely mounted (including mounted
infantry) can have (F). In accordance with the notes on p.1 of DBMM Army
List Book 3, allied commands of less than 10 troop elements cannot have
more than 1 baggage element.
- Stratagems such as Hidden Obstacles or Disguised
Troops that are list dependant will only be permitted if specified in the
published DBMM army lists or, for armies converted from the DBM army
lists, if the conversion is obvious to the list-checker (whose ruling is
final).
- Army lists must be submitted for checking in
advance and must be received by the List Checker not later than one week
before the event. A penalty of 2 victory points per round, for each round
of the
competition, may be imposed for late submission of lists. Any incorrect
list discovered after a game has commenced (after aggression dice have
been rolled) must be corrected prior to the next match.
- The List
Checker is Chris Hanley - LL Marine, Shepperton
Marina, Felix Lane, Shepperton, TW17
8NS – email cm_hanley@hotmail. com
The list checker can only respond to queries in
connection with Army Lists. All other queries must be addressed to the organisers.
- Table size is 6' x 4' and players must supply their
own terrain pieces. These must be to an acceptable standard, and umpires
will have the discretion to remove unsightly items.
- Players must be present and ready to start the match
at the appointed time. Where a player has a reasonable excuse for arriving
late the match start will be delayed by up to 30 minutes. After which time
the affected opponent will be awarded a win and 25 points.
- If a player resigns from a game at any stage after
the aggression dice have been rolled the game will be scored as if the
resigning player’s army had been broken.
- The DBMM Commentary version 3.8 – available from dbmm.org.uk will be used to clarify the
rules where required.
- Games will be scored according to the rules.
- The draw for
each round will be done manually, club colleagues will not be drawn
against each other.
- The Umpire will be Peter Haines – E1 Cedar Lodge,
Tunnel Road, The Park, Nottingham, NG7 1BP – email pmh54321@btinternet.com
As Peter will also be playing, all participants should resolve as many issues
as possible themselves and should thoroughly check the wording in the
rules, supported by the Commentary, before calling for an Umpire’s ruling.
- There
will be 4 rounds of competition. Check-in is from 8:45 to 9:15 on Saturday with 1st round starting at 9:30, 2nd round at 2:00. On Sunday, round 3 starts at 9:00 and round 4 at 1:30, finishing at 5:00.
Matches will continue until the end of the current pair of bounds when
time is called. Time will be called after 3 hours 15 minutes plus a 1 - 15
minute random factor. Players may always commence games earlier than the
stated time by mutual consent. The time allowed for a game includes all
pre-game activities such as terrain placement and deployment.
